Its been another busy week in the carpet and upholstery cleaning world and here is how it went.Monday morning I check all the oil levels on both the van and the truckmount and type in the first destination on the sat nav 77 berry st North Sydney a very popular site for KP’s with many units in this building. We attend here at least twice a month for move outs. The time is 750 am and pull up outside the building unload the gear and sign in to the building security. The unit I am cleaning is on the 18th floor and is empty.I proceed to start vacuuming and admire the views of the harbour bridge and the city, soon after this I apply the carpet pre spray and leave it to dwell. When this is done I fill up the steam cleaner with hot water set up and finish the steam cleaning of the carpet in the unit.Job number one done and time to grab a chicken wrap from a favourite cafe of mine in crows nest.

My next job is close by in Chatswood another empty studio apartment, this takes not too long to clean and I am finished in forty minutes.I now head down to the beachside suburb of Dee Why to clean five seats of upholstery,When I arrive I find no lifts and the unit is on the top floor so dragging up a 56kg machine up six flights of stairs really is not fun. I get started and clean the three seater first, the only downside to cleaning upholstery is it can give you back ache.

Job done and another happy customer and time for a late lunch at Dee Why beach to take in the surf.Just one more job to go before I have to clean a pubs carpet later in the night. The next job is in Clontarf and only one room with baby sick so a nice quick job and time to go home and rest up before the pub job.

It is 9 pm and time to head back to North Sydney to the Alberts tavern on Walker st.We clean this pub every two weeks and always have a lot of chewing gum to remove from the carpets.First off I hit all the gum spots with a gel that dissolves the gum.Once this is done I set up the truck mount and connect all the hoses and pre spray the carpets with detergent. Now I get going and steam clean the carpets and melt away all the chewing gum shortly after an hour I have finished,so time to pack up head home and get some shut eye before the next day.

Tuesday mid morning and I am off to Surry Hills to pick up some rugs to be cleaned at our factory.

Carpet has always been a very popular choice for home owners due to the number of advantages it has. It gives character and color to any room in your home, whether you choose a casual ambiance or opt for a more formal and elegant setting, carpet can do the trick. Carpet also provides much extra comfort; the plush feel you get when you are walking around barefoot cant be matched by any other type of floor covering

upright vacs are very good

As much as you would like to preserve your carpet in the best way possible, accidents do and can happen. Spills and stains can mark your carpet permanently, if not given immediate care. Although carpet is relatively low-maintenance, the nature of its material demands a weekly or twice weekly routine carpet clean. As well as that, specific stains need certain concoctions. For example, red wine spills are to be treated with cold water and salt before being vacuumed while acid stains require baking soda, cold water and club soda.

Routine cleaning always begins with vacuuming. It is advised that you vacuum your carpet at least once a week in areas that are rather unused, and twice a week for areas that have high traffic. Consistent vacuuming can preserve your carpet longer because it thwarts the incidence of build up which may cut through the carpet fibers.Remember to empty or replace the bag once it is two thirds full.

Wall to wall carpet vacuuming, especially in large rooms, can be very labor-intensive and time consuming . If it is not done properly, the vacuuming can be pointless. One very good technique is to split the floor by equal sections, run the vacuum cleaner on one section thoroughly before moving on to the next. In this way, you will be certain that no space is left untouched.

DO NOT rush your vacuuming task, especially if you have a plush-type of carpet. The build and materials of plush carpets allow the dust and soils to be easily embedded in to the carpet. One run will not be enough for this type of carpet, so make sure you allow plenty of time for the suction to do its dirty job. In areas of heavy traffic activity such as the living room, go over it a few times with criss-cross strokes.

Newly cleaned carpets can be treated with soil retardants(carpet protector) if you wish to do so, so ask your carpet cleaner if they have this kind of treatment ie scotchgaurd, teflon or any professional carpet protector. Soil retardants or carpet protectors help prevent the re-soiling of carpet, and stops liquid from penetrating to the carpet fibers. Essentially, soil retardants extend the life of your carpet

Lastly, always put a little bit of baking soda into your vacuum bag. Baking soda has been proven to eliminate and prevent unpleasant odors. This will definitely leave your carpet smelling crisp, fresh and clean! Taking care of your carpet could be cumbersome but well worth the effort! Unless you plan on taking up the entire carpet flooring in place of a new one(very costly), you would want to preserve it in the best way possible. Contact KPs to save the life of your carpet flooring!

We get a lot of jobs from television production companies, home make over shows, tv commercials and reality shows. On this occasion we get a call from the production company filming the biggest loser at Manly. Its another great reason why been a carpet cleaner is such a good job, everyday is different and you always get to see more things than most other people.

What seems to have happened on the set is one of the contestants has been sick on the carpet where filming is going on and time is money on set.

Contestant feeling sick

and its no supprise theese people are been sick they go under a lot of hard work in this show.

it was bound to happen

Now its time for KP’s to move in.We get the carpets cleaned and refreshed while filming is stopped and apply a deoderiser to take away the nasty smell.

The production manager is pleased with the result and filming is resumed with in a few hours.
